Jonathan Kay Sees Jerusalem As "A City of Curses"

He writes (in the CJN):
Jerusalem is unique – a place where even non-religious visitors will report feeling something sacred. But I never feel it. The opposite, in fact: remove the conceit of the divine, and history shows Jerusalem to be a city of curses.
I couldn't disagree more:
How sad for Jonathan Kay that his experience and understanding of Jerusalem is that it's "a city of curses." Having been there many times over the course of my life, most recently in the summer of 2015, the city has never failed to move me in a positive way--to astonish with its ravishing beauty, to fascinate with its antiquity, to make me feel connected to my Jewish ancestry and to Jewish history, instantly and viscerally. A visit to Yerushalayim never fails to invigorate me, and inspire me to want to return again and again. In that sense, I see Jerusalem as a city of blessings and not, heaven help us, of "curses."

That clearly not being the case with Kay, he might want to do himself--and us--a huge favour and simply stay away.

British Zion-Hate At Its Worst

You know where I consistently read some of the most toxic anti-Israel stuff around? It's on The Times Literary Supplement website. Take this week's offering, for example. It's a poem--by a Jew, of course--that bemoans Israel's actions in Gaza some years ago, and that features a photo of Hamas's bombed out Interior Ministry. (Yeah, don't you hate it when Israel takes action against its eliminationist jihadi enemies?)

The Zion-hate on the TLS site is so pervasive that it befouls the whole shebang.

All the Way With Anna K.!

I've been taking an awesome course on Tolstoy's magnificent novel and, in the throes of insomnia last night, composed the following bits of doggerel:
Tolstoy's Anna, in turmoil and pain,
Bears an indelible stain.
And she's so fatalistic
She becomes a statistic
By way of an oncoming train.

****
Anna Karenina, errant wife,
Finds passion with Vronsky but loses her life.
The message here could be etched in stone:
One cannot live on love alone.

Age Old Canard Detected In Grammy-Losing Rap Song

A "delightful" Jay-Z number was nominated for Best Rap Song at last night's Grammys (It lost out to Kendrick Lamar's "Humble"). I was intrigued enough by its title--"The Story of O.J."--to google the lyrics. Here's but a taste (my bolds):
Light nigga, dark nigga, faux nigga, real nigga
Rich nigga, poor nigga, house nigga, field nigga
Still nigga, still nigga
Light nigga, dark nigga, faux nigga, real nigga
Rich nigga, poor nigga, house nigga, field nigga
Still nigga, still nigga
You wanna know what's more important than throwin' away money at a strip club? Credit
You ever wonder why Jewish people own all the property in America? This how they did it
Financial freedom my only hope
Fuck livin' rich and dyin' broke
I bought some artwork for one million
Two years later, that shit worth two million
Few years later, that shit worth eight million
I can't wait to give this shit to my children
Y'all think it's bougie, I'm like, it's fine
But I'm tryin' to give you a million dollars worth of game for nine ninety-nine
I turned that two to a four, four to an eight
I turned my life into a nice first week release date, mm
Y'all out here still takin' advances, huh?
Me and my niggas takin' real chances, uh
Y'all on the 'gram holdin' money to your ear
There's a disconnect, we don't call that money over here, yeah
I know, I know--it ain't exactly Cole Porter. But it's the out-and-out Jew-hate that's most objectionable, at least to me. The Jews own "all the property in America"? I'd call that one an oldie but a baddie. And such a pernicious lie, especially when you consider that this modest homestead is the property of none other than Jay-Z (and his immensely rich, property-owning wife).

Update: And speaking of Jew-haters--it's a Farrakhanapalooza!

Steven Spielberg Tapped to Direct New Version of West Side Story

Begging the question(s): why?

Why remake it at all?

Why have it directed by someone who, in a career spanning four decades, has never displayed an iota of musicality?

Update: This one's for Steverino:

Dear Mr. Steven Spielberg,
You gotta comprehend
That your directing deal here
Is likely to offend.
You aren't a Jerry Robbins,
And you're no Robert Wise.
Stevie, sweetheart, why do this reprise?
Yes, director Spielberg, those are our guffaws
'Cuz this is a great musical--not ET or Jaws.
Dear director Spielberg, this one is taboo.
Dear director Spielberg, Krup you!

The CBC's Michael Enright "Gets It" Re Modern Jew-Hate

Occasionally--just occasionally--the CBC, which is not exactly known for its fandom of Israel, manages to get something right. This is one of those rare occasions.

Worst. Idea. Ever.

Sure thing, Rabbi. Just as soon as Canadian Muslims support a national day against Jew-hate/Zion-loathing.

Somali Behind a Series of "Unprovoked, Random" Shootings in Toronto: Is He a Jihadi? A Psychopath? Both?

As Robert Spencer observes, we will likely never know. That's because here
in Canada, as in many quarters all over the West, Islam’s image must be protected at all costs, and that is the first and foremost priority that all authorities must pursue. The victims’ rights and well-being can go hang, as far as the authorities are concerned.
You can say that again. And Farzana Hassan pretty much does so in her column in the Toronto Sun. More specifically, she is concerned that Justin Trudeau's laissez faire approach to returning Canadian ISIS fighters--Justin thinks they can be de-brainwashed--is unlikely to be effective:
As for Trudeau’s contention about rehabilitation, even his own public safety minster admits that the chances of this reintegration occurring are “remote.” In rare cases when it works, the process is complex and time-consuming. For now, meticulous surveillance is the only chance of keeping Canadians safe.
"Remote": that's a word I would use to describe Justin's intelligence.

Update: An adorable pair of former terror suspects have a cushy new gig in Justin's Trudeaupia. Nice work if you can get it, eh?

Now They're Grumbling Because Not Enough "Asians" Were Nominated for Oscars

The irony here is that by harping on the need for "diversity," you end up turning everything into a question of "race."

Update: Isn't it time to come up with a new Academy Award because the current prize is sexist (since it's the figure of potentially sexually abusive male)?

I know--why don't they go with a metalized pink pussy hat?

L'Oreal's First Hijab-Wearing Model Backs Out of Ad Campaign When Her Zion-Loathing Tweets Are Exposed

Just days after British beauty blogger Amena Khan made headlines for being the first hijab-wearing woman featured in a hair campaign by landing a deal with L’Oréal Paris, Khan is backing out of the campaign.

The blogger announced on Instagram that she would no longer be a part of the historic ads because of the controversy surrounding tweets she wrote in 2014. According to BBC.com, her tweets are said to have expressed “anti-Israel” views.

“I deeply regret the content of the tweets I made in 2014, and sincerely apologise for the upset and hurt that they have caused,” she wrote.

“Championing diversity is one of my passions, I don’t discriminate against anyone. I have chosen to delete them as they do not represent the message of harmony that I stand for.”
In other words, "I love everyone...'cept for those damn Joooooos!"

Is Sharia a Consideration In Some Canadian Judicial Decisions?

The answer to that, shockingly enough, is yes. The Toronto Sun's Candice Malcolm has the details:
Take, for instance, the recent case of an Ottawa man who was found not guilty of sexual assault because the judge determined that the man’s Muslim faith led him to think he could have sex with his wife anytime he wanted.

The court heard stories of the man abusing his wife, and forcefully having sex with her even when she asked him to stop. But according to the judge, “both he and she believed that he had the right to do so.”

He may have that ‘right’ under Sharia Law, but not under Canadian law. In Canada, women have equal rights to men, and that means the right to say ‘no.’

This ruling is not an anomaly. Another recent Ontario court gave a Muslim man a reduced sentence after he was found guilty of abusing his children, hitting his wife and forcefully having sex with her.

The judge attributed the lighter sentence to “a significant culture gap” between accepted behavior in Canada and in his native Iran.
There's no need to institute de facto sharia when "progressives" can sneak it in de jure.

The Definition of "An Excercise In Futility"

British Jews who support Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party, but hate how it's become suffused with Jew-hate, are "considering legal action" against it.

And Now, a Message to America From a Baffled Fan

America, I love you. But the fact that your system of governance includes a mechanism to defund your federal government and shut it down for a time seems like the pinnacle of lunacy to me.

Could it be time to come up with a different--a better--modus operandi?

All the Lonely People, Where Do They All Come From?

They come from the U.K., apparently, where the government has seen fit to create--yes!--a Ministry of Loneliness.

Sounds like the title of a bad Graham Greene novel, no?

Now, I'm no social scientist, but it seems to me that "loneliness" is a symptom/manifestation of something else, something larger. Societal breakdown? The spiritual emptiness that's a function of a life replete with hedonistic self-indulgence and devoid of any connectedness to a higher power or sense of purpose?

Something alone those lines, I think.

The Left/Liberal Takeaway From the Curious Incident of the Hijabi in the Day-Time: It's Your Fault, Islamophobic Canadians!

A Toronto schoolgirl's harrowing account of how a scissors-wielding attacker slashed her hijab on her way to school--a tale which quickly flared into a media sensation--has turned out to be completely bogus (go figure, eh?). And what's the left/Liberal reaction to it all? It's to feign relief even as they avail themselves of the opportunity to gin up fears about our "Islamophobia".

Hence, this, in today's Globe and Mail:
Bernie Farber, executive director of the Mosaic Institute, a think tank that promotes diversity, and former chief executive officer of the Canadian Jewish Congress, said the fact that these allegations were false "does not in any way diminish the fact that Islamophobia is rampant in this country and we need to find a way to stop it."
And this, from our numbskull prime minister:
The Prime Minister's Office said Monday that "we have seen an unfortunate pattern of increased hate crimes in past months directed toward religious minorities, particularity toward women. We need to take this issue extremely seriously as this pattern is a warning sign of increased intolerance."
And this, in the National Post:
There used to be a news maxim that “Jews are news,” which made sense when anti-Semitism was the greater cultural concern. Now, it is the hijab that is guaranteed clickbait.

“Today we’re experiencing the very same thing with Muslims,” said Karen Mock, an educational psychologist and human rights consultant who chaired the committee that developed the Ontario government’s hate crime strategy. “These things do get blown out of proportion when it’s a marginalized or racialized group.”
Also this--the Mock-averse letter I sent in response:
I'm sorry to have to break it to Joseph Brean and Karen Mock, but according to the most recent Statistics Canada data, it is Jews, and not Muslims (or any other minority group), who are most often on the receiving end of a hate crime in Canada--and by a wide margin.

Thus, if "Jews are news" no longer, it's not because anti-Semitism has been consigned to history's dustbin; if anything, there's more of it around than ever. It's because there's a "sexier" victim group out there, and because Liberals like Karen Mock and Justin Trudeau see a benefit in catering to it, and to waggling their fingers at Canadians whom they accuse of harboring "Islamophobic" feelings toward Muslims.

That's why, instead of asking why an 11-year-year old girl would be motivated to fabricate a story about how her hijab was slashed by a non-existent "Islamophobe," they are still intent on slamming Canadians for our (largely) non-existent Islamophobia.

How pathetic--and how insulting.
Update: To be fair to Mock, she does raise some possible reasons for the fabrication:
Mock similarly said the case should not be ignored because a child lied. Perhaps she was being harassed or bullied and no one was listening to her. Perhaps she herself wanted to get rid of her hijab. Perhaps this was meant as a call for help. Could this be crying wolf to the principal, and being unable to walk it back once the news cameras arrived in her school?

“We don’t know and nobody should be passing judgment until we find out,” Mock said.
And if we find out that the girl was prompted to do it by one or both parents who saw a value in playing the victim card (not that we ever will find it out, given that the cops have announced that it's case closed), then can we pass judgment?

Update: Robert Spencer comments:
See how the establishment media narrative works? When racist, bigoted “Islamophobes” supposedly target Muslims, Muslims are victims. And when Muslims fake “Islamophobic hate crimes,” Muslims are victims. Not only that, but when Muslims scream “Allahu akbar” and murder infidels, Muslims are victims. Always and in every situation, Muslims are victims, to be appeased and accommodated in every possible way. Once you understand, we can all lock arms and march together into our glorious multicultural, diverse future.
Yup. That's exactly how the Trudeaupians unpack it.

Update: The Toronto Sun's Anthony Furey says that the hijab hoax girl and her family owe Canadians an apology.

If I know one thing for certain, it's this: that is never going to happen.

Forcing "Migrants" In Germany to Visit a Concentration Camp the Way to Tackle Their Jew-Hate?

Some seem to think so, anyway.

Me? I don't believe it'll work, seeing as the migrants' antipathy to Jewry has its source, for the most part, in Islam's foundational holy texts.

What will work? Well, for starters, Germany could at least acknowledge that opening its doors to millions of Jew-haters is a terrible way to try to assuage residual guilt for the Holocaust.

On Last Night's "The Agenda": Dealing With ISIS Returnees

Watch it here and you'll see that the only expert on the show who agrees with the Trudeau government's approach to the problem is the woman who heads up the government-funded body that's been created to dole out the shekels to local "counter-radicalization" initiatives.

Update: A few words you won't find on the Canada Centre for Community Engagement and Prevention of Violence website--jihad, jihadis, Islam, Islamism and, last but definitely not least, "Allahu Akbar!"

Two Different Approaches to "Birth Tourism" In North America

The first approach is the American one. See, for instance, this:
Southern California apartment complexes that doubled as "maternity hotels" for Chinese women who want made-in-America babies were raided early Tuesday, capping an unprecedented federal sting operation, officials said.
NBC News was on the scene as Homeland Security agents swept into The Carlyle, a luxury property in Irvine, California, which housed pregnant women and new moms who allegedly forked over $40,000 (C$49,868) to $80,000 (C$99,736) to give birth in the United States.
"I am doing this for the education of the next generation," one of the women told NBC News.
None of the women were arrested; they are being treated as material witnesses, and paramedics were on hand in case any of them went into labour during the sweep.
Instead, the investigation was aimed at ringleaders who pocketed hundreds of thousands of dollars tax-free to help Chinese nationals obtain visas and then pamper them until they delivered in an American hospital at a discount, court papers show.
"It's not necessarily illegal to come here to have the baby, but if you lie about your reasons for coming here, that's visa fraud," said Claude Arnold, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations for Los Angeles...
Here in Canada, of course, officials approach the issue in a typically Canadian fashion (i.e. by being gullible and naïve, and by pretending that all is for the best in this, the best of all possible Trudeaupias):
[Canadian] immigration and citizenship experts say the issue of birth tourism is way overblown, and that it would do more harm than good to overhaul the way people become Canadians.

"Eliminating citizenship by birth on Canadian soil would be a hysterical response to a handful of cases that, in statistical terms, amount to a rounding error," reads a 2014 press release from the BC Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA), which has repeatedly tried to quash the notion that Canada's citizenship laws are being taken advantage of by throngs of non-Canadians.

The problem of birth tourism across Canada is negligible at best, Josh Paterson, the executive director of BCCLA told VICE News by phone.

"The fact that someone giving birth here is a foreign national does not mean it's birth tourism. And there's very little evidence to show this is a problem requiring action," said Paterson. "Changing our laws would be far-reaching and far costlier than whatever costs are being incurred by people without citizenship having babies."

On Wednesday, the Vancouver Sun published a story about internal government documents that reveal investigators with the BC health ministry are aware of 26 private residences in the province where foreign pregnant women can stay before and after giving birth. According to the documents, these so-called "baby houses" offer hospitality services to women with temporary and permanent residency status.

The report also pointed to Chinese brokerage firms and databases that promote birth tourism in BC to Chinese nationals, including one agent in Shenzhen who hosts a website listing hospitals in the province with Mandarin-speaking doctors on site.
Sounds to me like these Chinese enterprises are playing Canadians for fools, which, considering the cluelessness of Josh Paterson and his ilk, is ridiculously easy to do.

Just Putting It Out There

It's interesting that the powers that be in the province of Quebec refuse to succumb to pressure and enact an annual anti-"Islamophobia" day to commemorate last year's mosque shootings.

Contrast that with what happened back in the 1989, when a crazed male student (known as Marc Lepine; birth name, Gamil Gharbi) shot and killed 14 women in an engineering class at Montreal's Ecole Polytechnique. Forever after, that date became fixed in our calendar as an annual time to remember not only those killed by Lepine/Gharbi, but to honour all women everywhere who suffer abuse and worse at the hands of men.

What I'm trying to say is this: if the mosque shooting represents the actions of one deranged and hateful individual and therefore doesn't merit a permanent, annual date to decry a supposedly generalized and endemic "Islamophobia," isn't it time, at long last, to view the Ecole Polytechnique incident in the same way? Why are we still blaming the entire male sex for the actions of one angry young man (who, along with his mom and sister, had been brutalized by his dad, an immigrant from Algeria)?

Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr., "Islamophobe"?

I'm reading the new biography of the American historian and just came across this passage. It's an entry from Schlesinger's journal, written in May, 1940 when he was aged 22:
The central fact of the year is the war, which has changed our world for us...The invasion of Holland and Belgium finally awoke me to Nazism. Hitler is no mere imperialist conqueror, somewhat nastier and gaudier than the Kaiser...His [is] not a war for markets and colonies. It is a revolution and a crusade. The analogy is not the first world war. It is the spread of Mohammedanism. Hitler will not be controlled by the motives which controlled Cecil Rhodes, say, or even Napoleon. He is the prophet of a new religion, and like all prophets who believe their faith with sufficient intensity, his is out to convert or destroy.
How dare he call Mohammedanism destructive. Didn't he know it's the religion of peace?

French Actresses (Including Catherine Deneuve) Denounce Current Hollywood "Witch Hunt" Hysteria

Eschewing the virtue signaling of Tinsel Town hashtaggers, these French women are injecting a much-needed note of sanity into the mise-en-scene:
They insisted that women were "sufficiently aware that the sexual urge is by its nature wild and aggressive. But we are also clear-eyed enough not to confuse an awkward attempt to pick someone up with a sexual attack."
I have been waiting for someone in showbiz to make this argument. I guess France is how far removed from Ground Zero one must be in order to make it (because someone more local--and American--would unlikely to be able to withstand the backlash that would inevitably ensue following the utterance of such an out-of-step statement).

Justin Trudeau's Record of Useful Idiocy/Capitulation to the Islamist Agenda Is Non Pareil

Non pareil--that's French for numero uno in the cluelessness department.

Terrorism expert Tom Quiggin has all the excruciating details:
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada has an nine-year long record of supporting the Islamist cause while refusing to engage with reformist Muslims. With respect to ISIS fighters returning to Canada, Trudeau has argued that they will be a "powerful voice for deradicalization" and that those who oppose their return are "Islamophobic." Furthermore, the Government of Canada is not adding the names of returning ISIS fighters to the UN committee responsible for the listing of international jihadists.
Many Canadians (and others) are starting to believe that Prime Minister Trudeau's position on reintegrating and deradicalizing ISIS fighters is unreasonable, if not delusional. Canada's "Centre for Community Engagement and Deradicalization" has no leader and no deradicalization centre. Nor does it appear to have plans for a program which could operate inside or outside of government. It is also not clear that the law of Canada could force a returning ISIS fighter to attend such a program, even if it did exist. In France, a similar government sponsored program was a failure...
Expecting returning jihadis to be a "powerful voice for deradicalization" is like expecting Harvey Weinstein to be a powerful voice for #TimesUp.

Then again, Weinstein, pig though he is, is never going to scream "Allahu Akbar!" as he eviscerates scores of infidels.

Improper Usage of "Penultimate" Spotted in the Toronto Sun

Gordon Chong says Justin Trudeau "is the penultimate version of a used-car salesman, whose unctuous words matter more than the substance of what he says..."

Well, no. Justin Trudeau is the ultimate--and not as per the meaning of "penultimate," the second best--version of this archetype.

Chong seems to think it means something else--the epitome, the first of the first.

Not so.

Time to give that adjective a "pen"-ectomy, Gordo!

Update: On second thought, Justin Trudeau is not really like a fast-talking used-car salesman: if Justin had to make his living selling used cars, he'd probably starve because, whatever else he is, he is no slick talker.

Far from it.

He is someone whose speech is usually punctuated by an excess of "ahs," the pause that allows his to gather his thoughts as he plows on, fecklessly, to the end of his sentence.

Part-time drama teacher though he used to be, he would never make a credible Harold Hill, a.k.a. the Music Man. (Can't you just picture it? "Well, ah, you got, ah, some trouble, right, ah, here in, ah, River City.")

In the eloquence department, Justin Trudeau is no Barack Obama.

Heck, he's not even a Donald Trump.

He's more like a John Lennon--a mush-mouthed Utopian who enjoys sharing the things he "imagines" with you. And, sadly, for a large segment of Canadians, that sort of blarney is the "penultimate" (in the Chongian sense of the word).

The Joshua Boyle Story--Should Become the Next Netflix Sensation, No?

Nothing fictional--not Shameless, not Arrested Development, not Stranger Things--can compare to this real life dramedy:
A wannabe spy for CSIS, raised in a rural, devoutly Christian southern Ontario home, the son of a federal court judge, who married and then divorced Zaynab Khadr, who once lived in Osama bin Laden’s compound in Afghanistan, is only the start of his unusual attributes. His harrowing ordeal — taking his pregnant second bride, an American whom he met through a Star Wars gaming forum, backpacking through unstable Afghanistan where they were abducted and held hostage for five years until their rescue in October — is more perplexing still.
And now his arrest, on allegations that span the time since his return to Canada, less than two weeks after the Boyle family’s cheery visit with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, caps the intrigue.

Latest Cover of Khomeinist 'Zine a Real Humdinger

It isn't often you get to see the words "Satan" and "crusader" on the same magazine cover, but the latest issue of Zafar's gangbang manages that feat with ease and derring-do:

I can't tell you how much I will miss these delightful images once the Khomeinists' "Islamic Movement" gets flushed down the bog (which, in light of current occurrences, may soon come to pass).

'21 Is Young to Become a Bigot'

Kiwi Singing sensation Lorde is blasted for succumbing to pressure from BDS propagandists (see this full page ad in the Washington Post):
