Former longtime Canadian diplomat Gar Pardy (any relation to lesbian heckler Lorna?) tells the Ceeb's Anna-Maria Tremonti (click on ' Listen to Part Two') that the reason a young Canadian-Indian woman is being held against her will by her father in Saudi Arabia is largely a function of "the fact that we [i.e. the Harper government] have sort of taken ourselves out as a balanced observer" in the Middle East.
"Are you suggesting," queries the not-nearly startled enough Anna-Maria by way of clarification, "that Canada’s Israel policy could leave young Canadian women in limbo?"
"Yes," replies Pardy. That's exactly what he's suggesting (even though, mere seconds earlier, he'd told his interviewer that, "on a scale of one to ten, Canada is probably closer to one" in terms of its influence over the Wahhabis).
