'Malaysian Idol'

It's a lot like American Idol, only without the singing and with a lot more Islam. And, oh yeah, they can't have any "idols" (since, as we know, they're prohibited on religious grounds). From onislam.net:
...Modelled on the reality-TV formula of programs such as "American Idol" in the US, the primetime show will invite contestants from all around the world to be tested about the Muslim faith.
They will face a variety of tasks from reciting the Noble Qur’an to counselling promiscuous young couples.

Participants will also be tested on religious knowledge on medical issues, and even how to handle the challenges of investing and the stock market.

They will also travel into Malaysia's jungles to preach to indigenous people, many of whom are non-Muslims.

"The participants will be able to bring a lot of interesting influences to the program as they will come from different countries," Zainir Aminullah, an official at the Malaysian satellite television station which produces the show, told Reuters.

The first season allowed only Malaysians to compete in the program.

But this year’s season is open to anyone whose age is between 18 and 27 and can speak Malay...
Who sez there's no fun in Islam?

Update: William Hung adapts his Ricky Martin "hit" for Malay tastes:

And she bombs, she bombs.
Oh baby, when she blows, she blows.
They get splattered
'Cause she looks inoffensive
But 'splodes like a shaheed.
That chick'll go down in history...
