If you've been following Steyn you know he's had a rollicking time making fun of a government-sponsored festival for cowboy poets. (Who even knew there was such a species?) During his guest-hosting stint on Limbaugh today, he noted that al Qaeda had called Hillary Clinton "the old lady of malice," and asked listeners to complete a "cowboy" poem about her. Here's mine:
There was an old lady of malice
Who wanted to bomb a dude's palace.
Now the Arab League moans,
"She's the one with the stones
While Obama needs lots of Cialis."
Someone obviously has not spent much time in Alberta or the west if they didn`t know of the species called "Cowboy Poets". I will not hold that against them though because your poem about Hillary on their behalf is so awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou caught me. I'm an Easterner through and through. The only cowboy poetry I'm aware of is when Roy Rogers sings "Happy Trails."
ReplyDeleteScaramouche - check out Ian Tyson. He's been involved with the cowboy poets & even sings about them.
ReplyDeleteOkay, Frances, will do.
ReplyDeleteTry goggling cowboy poetry and click the Canada only search thingy. There is some good stuff there if you look around a bit and I think you will enjoy it. Here is a link to one of my favourites.
