Her talent was as huge as her appetite for self-destruction. Given that, it was only a matter of time before the former was extinguished by the latter. FWIW, here's my favorite Amy song:
It's a beautiful song, and beautifully sung in a poignant blues style (which is remarkable in a British singer!). I am sorry to say that I did not know of her--no doubt this is a clear sign that I am standing on the threshhold of old age--until I read the notices of her passing on several blogs (including, of course, this one). Her (oh so young!) life had a truly tragic quality; she must have been in great torment toward the end. I hope that she will find rest in God's merciful arms.
I was a fan. I thought her voice was singular--and astonishing. How tragic she could never get her act together (literally). I, too, wish her a peaceful eternity.
