Nora Ephron has passed away. Even though her movie Heartburn (she wrote it; Mike Nichols directed it) was excoriated by the critics, I've always had a soft spot for this key-lime-in-the-proboscis moment. Bruce Bawer writes an appreciation for the woman and her oeuvres here.
