Perhaps best known for her 1991 book The Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf rocketed to prominence a decade ago with her basic-science-meets-cultural-history approach to female beauty standards. Vagina gives the Beauty Myth treatment to a much more clearly defined part of the female anatomy, seeking to redefine its role—as well as the role of female desire in general—in creativity, politics, and collective female identity."A New Biography"? Did I miss something--is there an older one? Or is the only thing that's getting old here Ms. Wolfe's vajayjay, and her own (though I can't imagine anyone else's) fascination with it? And, here's a thought, isn't reducing women and their sexuality to their body part something sexists and pornographers do, and for which they are rightly criticized?
