  1. Shh! Shh! Please, Scaramouche, keep it quiet; I like women's sports--both of my daughters played several--and would like to see them remain the province of, well, women. (The sentiment goes double for my wife). And, as your friend Kathy Shaidle might say, we're just a couple of "human rights" lawsuits away from a brave not-so-new world where any XY entity who claims to be a woman athlete must be granted that status in the Olympics.

In fact, the precedent has already been set, though you may be too young to remember it: "Renée" Richards--né Richard Raskin--who would have been just a better than average male tennis club player, a castration fetishist (there's Ms. Shaidle again!) . . . er, I meant a worthy and progressive American transsexual who quite rightly decided to change his anatomy to match his self-image . . . sued in the New York courts (natch!) and won (double natch!) the right to play in the women's circuit of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). At one point, he was ranked, if memory serves, about 20th in the USTA.

So, I beseech you, let's not upset the chromosomal apple cart in Olympic sports . . . my wife would be devastated if she could not watch women's gymnastics actually performed by XX entities.
