With the Supreme Court in His Corner, Harpoon Siddiqui Brands Mark Steyn's Writings Criminal "Hate Speech"

Well, it sure didn't take long for that idiot ruling to result in dreadful, if not entirely unexpected, ramifications (described here by the NatPo's Chris Selley; I quote from my paper newspaper, since the link is not yet up):
EVERYTHING IS HATE SPEECH NOW
In light of the Supreme Court's Whatcott decision the Toronto Star's Haroon Siddiqui suggests that an excerpt from a Mark Steyn book on Muslims demographics, a debate over reasonable accommodations in Quebec, or an arguments against allowing prayers in a public school cafeteria during the school day, might now qualify as hate speech. At an apparent risk of committing criminal hate speech, Harpoon Siddiqui can get stuffed.
Careful there, Chris. Such jesting, as we know, could well result in a couple of Toronto cops knocking at your door.

Update: Here's the revoltingly triumphalist Siddiqui piece. (God help us all, because he thinks his side has won--and for the moment at least, he's right.)

Update: More Steynian "hate speech," of the droll and deliciously mordant kind.
