Mom of Dead ISIS Fighter Poses a Series of "What-Ifs" In a G&M Op-Ed Piece

Christine Boudreau, whose son Damian "reverted" to Islam at the age of 17 and who eventually ended up as a dead virgin-seeker in Syria, can't help but give in to some "what-ifs":

What if we had been aware of what was happening? What if Damian had seen there was an alternative to the course he believed was the only one open to him? What if there had been support available to help him realize this?

Alas, Boudreau fails to ask the only "what-if" that really counts: What if there were no such thing as jihad?

In that case, of course, her son would likely still be alive.
