Government can’t just annex “one-sixth of the US economy” (ie, the equivalent of annexing the entire British or French economy, or annexing the entire Indian economy twice over) and then just say: “Okay, what’s next? On to cap-and-trade…” Nations that governmentalize health care soon find themselves talking about little else.Exactly. As I was remarking to our beloved Kentucky friends (whom we consider family, and vice versa) yesterday (no Obama-lovers, they), Canada has 1/10 the American population, and our socialized system doesn't function all that well, to say the least. I can't imagine what's going to become of American health care which has to serve ten times our numbers. All I can say is that it's going to be a catastrophe of gargantuan proportions, not only because the care itself is going to be a lot crappier, but because it will spell the end of American exceptionalism as the U.S. takes its place as merely one more statist state.
