The Face of Dhimmitude

"Everyone Draw Muhammed Day"--a page as well as a cheeky challenge on Facebook--has understandably hit a nerve in Pakistan, which, as the timesonline helpfully informs us, is "97 per cent Muslim."

Wow, that's a really high percentage. Only 3 percentage points shy of being completely Kafirrein (a word I just this second coined).

Pakistan's government has responded to the "sacrilege" by, of course, blocking access to the page, while the locals are doin' what comes naturally in such situations--throwing a collective hissy fit over infidel impudence. And how is Facebook weathering the brouhaha? Not so well, it seems. In fact it may be getting ready to cave a la Comedy Central--ironic given that the protest arose in "response to Muslim bloggers who threatened the creators of the television comedy South Park over their depiction of the Prophet in a bear suit." According to the timesonline
Facebook said that it was investigating the controversial page.

“While the content does not violate our terms, we do understand it may not be legal in some countries,” the company said in a statement. “In cases like this, the approach is sometimes to restrict certain content from being shown in specific countries.”
Spoken like a true sniveling, spineless dhimmi. Way to stand up for free speech and Western civilization, Facebook!

Update: Goodbye Facebook, Hello Seventh Century.

Update: iowahawk opts out.
