Nazism: Showbiz for Ugly, Murderous Thugs

In an examination of Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will, Mark Steyn observes that the director did her utmost to make Hitler and totalitarianism look good--and mostly succeeded. But try as she might, she could do little to prettify the gang of fugly brutes who formed Hitler's inner circle. Then again, it's not as though there was much to work with. Not even all the magic of Hollywood could have turned the likes of Goering and Goebbels into anything remotely attractive or Aryan-looking.
