A Canadian Human Rights Commission report notes that Aboriginals don't fare as well as members of the general population when it comes to health and wellness.
It must be due to egregious "discrimination" and not because of any problems inherent in the Indian Act, right?

QuAIA Takes Great "Pride" in Its Zionhass
Barbara Kay writes:

Update: Do you think a group called Ku Klux Klanners Against Israeli Apartheid (KKKAIA) be allowed to march in the Pride parade?
Toronto’s Pride parade began as a strategy in attracting widespread popular support, in a time-honoured, peaceful, way, for gay rights — not only in Canada, but everywhere. As time went by, social acceptance and legal parity became a reality here. The tone of the parade and the surrounding spin-off events then became celebratory for most participants, and a source of vast entertainment for spectators from near and far — not to mention an important source of revenue for Toronto coffers.
That changed some years ago when a rabidly anti-Israel group, Queers Against Israel Apartheid (QuAIA), seized the occasion of the parade to showcase its political hostility, and to cast an ugly shadow over the whole parade. Gay rights activist Martin Gladstone made a documentary of the 2009 parade, called Reclaiming our Pride. In it the hatred on the faces of many QuAIA and D[ykes]AIA marchers is palpable. One saw swastikas on T-shirts characterizing Israel as a Nazi state, and heard menacing chants, like “Fist by fist, blow by blow, apartheid state has got to go.” The film offered persuasive evidence that QuAIA were not ordinary political protesters with specific grievances, but Israel exceptionalists, gripped by an irrational obsession with the Jewish state’s allegedly fathomless evils, while utterly oblivious to horrific human rights abuses elsewhere...Memo to QuAIA: back in the day a group was gripped by an irrational obsession with Jewry's allegedly fathomless evils. You might want to think about that before donning its symbol.

Today in "No Jokes in Islam," Egyptian Koran-Fan Takes Umbrage at Jon Stewart's Jocular Tribal Reference
It's only--and always--about the Koran, something Jon Stewart hasn't yet twigged to:
American comedian Jon Stewart is stirring the proverbial pot as usual–but this time he’s doing it halfway around the world.
Appearing on controversial Egyptian TV satirist Bassem Youssef’s show, Stewart addressed his summer sabbatical: “As you know my people like to wander the desert, that’s what I’m doing now…it’s been two weeks, I’ve got 38 years and 50 weeks left.”
Not everyone in Egypt took too kindly to Stewart’s humor, however. Anonymous blogger Elder of Ziyon spotted an article in Egyptian paper Al Mesryoon which complained about this appearance—saying that Stewart was mocking the Koran.
According to the blogger, the Koran says that the Jews wandered 40 years in the desert because of their sins, and Al Mesryoon took umbrage with his lighthearted attempts at provoking laughter...One might quip that it's time for Al Umbrage to lighten up, but his sort never do.
Jimmy Carter' Splains What's Behind Female Subservience in Much of the Islamic World
He's pretty sure he knows what it's about:
In the Islamic world that [women's progress in becoming clergy] varies widely depending on what the regime is in the capital. Sometimes they try to impose very strict law, misquoting I think the major points of the Qur’an, and they ordain that a woman is inferior inherently.Misquoting? I think not.
R.I.P. Post-Grad "Social Justice"
I can't help but see this as a positive development:
A decade ago, at the University of Windsor, social justice was the future.
Popular, under-studied and interdisciplinary, the academic analysis of racism, sexism, colonialism and other oppressions seemed like a promising investment for a cash-strapped school keen to demonstrate its business savvy by leveraging some campus synergies.
Thus was born the Centre for Studies in Social Justice, one of three “pinnacles” that would display the UofW to the wider world, along with automotive and environmental sciences.
In two weeks, on Canada Day, the centre will close after eleven years, and join the ghostly ranks of obsolete academic departments, which haunt the quadrangles of campuses across North America..."Social justice" may make you feel all virtuous and tikkun olam-y, but it won't pay the bills. Far better to acquire a useful trade--say like plumbing.
Your Child Is Transgendered. Fine. But Do You Have to Stick Her on a "Pride" Float?
I dunno. Putting an eight-year-old on a Pride float to show how "proud" you are of her gender confusion strikes me as being all about you, not her.

This Is Terrifying--the Huge "Army" Behind the Roll Out of ObamaCare
Gee, Barry, how much is this going to cost Americans?
Update: "Having younger, healthier employees may no longer mean lower health insurance increases for small businesses after next year. If you’re wondering how that can be, thank Obamacare."
Call them Obamacare's army.
From the chief actuary at the California health insurance exchange that President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law established to the legions of call center staffers who will help people trying to buy insurance through such state exchanges, the number of people working to implement "Obamacare" has reached the tens of thousands, a Reuters analysis has found.
No one said that overhauling healthcare, which accounts for 17 percent of all national spending, was going to happen with a skeleton crew.
State offices that will run insurance exchanges are hiring tens of thousands, either on staff or through outsourcing firms. Federal agencies that are key to implementing the law, such as the Internal Revenue Service, plan to hire thousands more, and private non-profit groups backed by the White House are dispatching thousands of newly hired staffers and volunteers into the field.
The number of such workers, obtained through documents and interviews with officials, consultants and contractors, could be significant enough to produce a modest, if temporary, boost to employment across several industries.
But the precise size of this workforce is shrouded in secrecy. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) did not reply to a question asking how many people it has hired or assigned to implement healthcare reform, and companies with government contracts worth tens of millions of dollars are similarly tight-lipped...Gotta love all that dopeychangey "transparency."

Zionhass In Montreal
It's real--and it's ugly:
MONTREAL, June 21, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs appreciates the urgent attention given by Projet Montreal leader and Jeanne Mance district City Councillor Richard Bergeron to the anti-Semitic graffiti on a sidewalk in Montreal.
On June 14th, the word "Israhell" and swastikas were spray-painted in front of the Naot shoe store located on Saint-Denis Street in Montreal.
As soon as the Centre was informed, it contacted Mr. Bergeron's office who immediately took it upon himself to have the graffiti removed. Mr. Bergeron made it clear that this was completely "Intolerable", as he joined city workers in removing the hateful graffiti.
Mr. Bergeron added on his Facebook page that "hateful discourse is unacceptable in Montreal. As soon as I was informed that the anti-Semitic graffiti had been spray-painted on the sidewalk in front of Naot Shoes, I ensured that it would be removed immediately". He added that "on behalf of myself and of the members of Projet Montreal, I affirm my solidarity with the Jewish Community of Montreal."
The Jewish-owned shoe store has been the target of a boycott campaign for the past two years led by a small group of anti-Israel activists called PAJU...FYI, PAJU does not stand for People Against JUden--but it easily could.
Reuters Buries the Lede Re Identity of "Gunmen" Who Murdered Tourists in Pakistan
They were Taliban. You'd think the news agency would have put that crucial info in the headline (the Washington Post did) or the report's first line instead of burying it deep down (in the hopes that readers wouldn't notice it?).
Meanwhile, that nitwit John Kerry wants "peace talks" with the jihadis to "get back on track."

"I would make peace with jihadis
And claim they weren't baddies,
And "peace" won't hurt a bit.
While our drones mow down civilians
I would bribe 'em with gajillions
Because I am a nitwit..."
