"Little Mogadishus" in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. Fertile Grounds for Al-Shabab Recruitment

Luckily, only a tiny minority of Somali refugees race back to the homeland to kill for Allah. (Quel relief, eh?)

ISNA Canada So Toxic that ISNA (U.S.) Tries to Distance Itself From It

Reports that ISNA Canada has been indulging in humaniterrorism hanky-panky prompted ISNA in the U.S. to issue this disclaimer:
We at the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) are saddened and disturbed by news of alleged misappropriation of funds by our namesake organizations in Canada. We understand that the Canadian government’s investigation is still ongoing and no conclusion has been reached yet.

ISNA Canada and Islamic Development Foundation (IDF) in Canada are federally registered charities in Canada. It is important to note that the leadership and management of both of these organizations in Canada are separate from ISNA and its IDF (a department of ISNA), registered in the United States. There has been no links of authority or responsibility between the United States and Canadian organizations for a few decades, despite the similarity of names.

The bylaws of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) do allow Canadians to become its members and elect an officer designated as vice-president (Canada) who sits on the executive council of ISNA, headquartered in Plainfield, Indiana. However, these members are individuals and have direct relationship with the Indiana-based ISNA and its IDF. No communication or relationship with them flows through the Mississauga-based ISNA Canada or its IDF.

The finances and financial records of ISNA, including those of its IDF, are maintained at its headquarters in Plainfield, Indiana. They are annually audited by certified public accountants, and annually published in its report to its members. The executive council and the board (Majlis ash Shura) of ISNA are fully committed to due diligence, transparency and accountability in managing all donations it receives, and to comply with all financial laws and regulations.

We do hope that the government investigation of our namesake Canadian organizations will soon conclude with whatever action that may be needed to restore the confidence of Canadian citizens in the worthiness of their charitable work.
No can do, ISNA (which, pace the above "clarification," has been known to engage in the same sort of supremacist shenanigans as its Canadian, um, "namesake").

A Sudanese War Criminal in New York

Sudan's Bashir is coming to address the UN--and, in effect, say screw you, Obama:
An accused war criminal wants to address the U.N. General Assembly this week, and the Obama administration doesn’t know what to do with him.
The Obama administration faces a challenge and the United Nations faces embarrassment now that Sudanese President Omar Bashir has applied for a U.S. visa to attend the annual General Assembly session, which opens Tuesday.
As the U.N. host country, the United States routinely grants visas to foreign leaders to travel to New York on U.N. business, but Gen. Bashir is under indictment for war crimes by the International Criminal Court. On Sunday, he said at a news conference in Khartoum that it is Sudan’s right to attend the U.N. General Assembly meeting.
“We have made arrangement to participate and there is no law in America [that] gives the right of preventing us,” he said, according to the official Sudan News Agency.
Samantha Power, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, and other administration officials want Gen. Bashir to surrender to the Netherlands-based tribunal, even though the United States does not recognize the authority of the court.
The court issued arrest warrants for the Sudanese leader in 2009 and 2010, accusing him of committing genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Sudan’s western province of Darfur.
“Giving President Bashir a visa would be controversial. It would call the U.S. government’s bluff on Bashir’s indictment,” said Andrew Natsios, who served as U.S. special envoy to Sudan in the George W. Bush...
Maybe they can get Vladimir Putin to step in. He seems to know what to do in these tricky situations.

Today In Absolutely Nothing To Do With Islam...

U.K. P.M. David Cameron tweets that the savage massacre (of infidels) at an upscale Nairobi shopping mall (owned by Israelis) by members of Al Shabbab (a Somalia-based jihadi outfit) has absolutely nothing to do with Islam.

What the Gilad Shalit Deal Has Wrought

Gilad got his life, but others lose theirs:
The kidnapping and murder of 20-year-old Sgt. Tomer Hazan is not the first attempt to kidnap Israeli soldiers or civilians in the two years since the Gilad Shalit deal.

Unfortunately, it also won’t be the last.
Since the deal, about which many of Israel’s security heads warned, the calls for kidnapping a “second Gilad Shalit” have been heard repeatedly from terrorist organizations. Though the motivation for such kidnappings existed before Shalit’s release, there is no doubt that freeing 1,027 prisoners, many of whom were convicted murderers, gave a meaningful push to actual attempts to create a “bargaining chip” in order to secure the release of additional prisoners.
On the day of Shalit’s release, thousands of Hamas operatives took to the streets of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The slogan coming from the mouths of Palestinian youth, especially prisoners’ family members, was that the Palestinians needed “another six Shalits” in order to empty out Israel’s prisons...
The take-away: when you make a deal with devil, you're bound to get burned.

As Revolting as Vladimir Putin's Op-Ed in the New York Times

Hassan "Ima Mod'rate" Rouhani's op-ed in the Washington Post.

Update: Just as revolting--Obama may extend his hand to Iran's Rouhani at the UN. I say we throw shoes at him instead.

Update: Rohani is a foe--and a faux moderate.
