Though I doubt this will provide much consolation for Scaramouche, I feel a real sense of solace when I compare and contrast Florida's state government--whose legislature and executive are (for the moment) safely in sane Republican hands--to the truly appalling provincial government of Ontario, which so often is the topic of her--and her conservative Canadian blogging comrades'--posts. Hands across the 49th parallel!
Put it this way: we have the same debt as the state of California, with an economy a third its size. In other words, our predicament is dire, and unlikely to improve for the foreseeable future.
