TDSB Task Force Calls for Better Support for Somali Students, Claims a "Somali Heritage Month" Could Help

Begging the question: where are those Jewish mentors when you need them?
A Toronto District School Board Task Force has released suggestions on how to better support students of Somali descent.
Students of Somali descent have significantly higher dropout and explusion rates than the general population at TDSB schools.
The Toronto Star reports some recommendations include calls for an advisory committee to provide feedback. A heritage centre where members of the community can give advice on the curriculum, and the creation of a Somali heritage month
The Task Force released the draft of recommendations after consulting with hundreds of people across the city.
What, no "Somalicentric" school? That's not terribly, um, "inclusive."
