Official Jewry considers it a real coup that they managed to entice "hardened secular" Muslim Tarek Fatah to visit Auschwitz. The question I would ask the O.J.s is the same one I have posed about Holocaust memorial in general: What's the point unless you draw a direct line between the Holocaust and today's Zionhass, and unless you underscore the need to save the State of Israel from suffering European Jewry's fate?
Do they seriously believe Fatah--who once told a TVO audience that he had the "cred" to weigh in on matters Middle Eastern because he used to belong to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and who remains adamant in his opposition to Israel--is going to return from Auschwitz a changed man, Zionism-wise? 'Tis to laugh.

The Madness of King O
He rewards genocidal jihadis and penalizes Jews. Ralph Peters sums it up like this:
...Wednesday in Washington was dedicated to shooting down one Israeli compromise offer after another. Of course, we haven't asked those valiant Palestinian freedom fighters (unfairly considered terrorists by reactionaries like me) to compromise a fraction of an inch.
The Palestinians dictate, the White House obeys.
This is madness. Rewarding terror and intransigence, we're undercutting the single rule-of-law democracy and defender of human rights in the Middle East. "The rockets' red glare"? Last time I saw it, the rockets were raining down on civilians in northern Israel. But Obama truly believes that the Palestinians are the good guys.
Here's the US-Israeli-Palestinian relationship in simple terms: You run a business. And you have a brother who's worked with you for decades. A group of corrupt "partners" with criminal records, notorious for flouting every deal they've made, promises to make you rich. All you have to do is kill your brother.
The Palestinians and their Arab backers have broken their every pledge on the (blind-alley) road to a deal. Time and again, they've refused reasonable terms proposed by Israel.
They could've had a deal under Clinton. They had another chance under W. Each time, the Palestinians walked away. Because they don't really want peace with Israel. They want Israel destroyed. Either Obama gets it and agrees with them, or he's naive to an extent that makes Jimmy Carter look jaded.
As far as the trumped-up issue of settlements goes, my Israeli friends are missing a great opportunity: Since Obama's supporters insist on a history-based Palestinian right of return to Jerusalem, Jews should demand their historical right to resettlement in the Saudi-occupied city of Medina -- where their once-prosperous presence is documented by the Koran...Silly Ralph. Don't you know that according to the Koran once a place has gone 'Rab, the land you can't grab? That's the reason the 'Rabs want Israel to disappear--so the land, miniscule though it is, can be restored to Dar al Islam. And it would appear that that's what King Hussein Barack wants too.
Do NOT Try This At Home
A DIY circumcision story, from the Vancouver Sun:
METRO VANCOUVER -- A Metro Vancouver man who circumcised his four-year-old son at home with a razor blade and blood coagulant meant for horses has been sentenced to one year in jail followed by two years probation.
In April 2007, the man, identified only as DJW due to a publication ban, gave his son, DJ, honey wine before placing him on garbage bags on the kitchen floor. DJW then cut away the boy's foreskin with a razor blade.Would that be the same Doug Christie who represents all the Hitler fans? I didn't know he handled illegal foreskin removal cases too. (Might one venture that in this case he worked for tips?)
As his son cried, the man sprinkled on him Wonder Dust, a blood coagulant meant for horses.
According to a summary of the case in Justice Marion Allan's October 2009 ruling, DJW, a Jehovah's Witness, had told DJ the procedure would grant him "extra special protection from God." DJW told DJ he would be allowed to eat Passover lamb and ice cream and to pick all the movies he wanted for a week.
DJ eventually had to be taken to hospital, where the circumcision was completed.
DJW initially claimed a religious exemption but dropped the argument based on the judge's finding that the procedure wasn't performed with reasonable care, his former lawyer, Doug Christie told The Vancouver Sun in October.
In late 2004 or early 2005, DJW circumcised himself, using Band-Aids, peroxide and a roll of gauze and a clear plastic ring, which he believed would act as an anesthetic. The procedure left his penis infected.
DJW was sentenced Thursday morning...
All Joking Aside
As I was reading this soporofic rant about the Coulter flap by an academic with the piquant name of Ozlem Sensoy (his name may be the zestiest thing about him), I couldn't help but recall the absolutist comment of another fun guy, the Ayatollah Khomeini. It seems like just yesterday that the bearded one was heard to intone: "There are no jokes in Islam." And darned if here comes Sensoy to tell us the same proscription on humour applies (more or less) to our own proud dominion. From the Vancouver Sun (my bolds; h/t KS):
Also--we "understand the social concept of power" just fine, Sensoy. And we understand that it's the lefty ideologues with their palavar about "hegemony" and "community" and "marginalized groups" and blah blah blah who want--who demand--the power to control things. For the greater good of all, of course, and not because they're, you know, a bunch of power-hungry control freaks.
On Tuesday, a speech by controversial American Ann Coulter at the University of Ottawa was cancelled because of fears there might be physical violence.
One of the arguments I've heard over and over about the cancellation is the "free speech" argument: Coulter has the right to say whatever she wants. This, her supporters argue, is what free speech means and what Coulter is being denied.
What people who launch the charge of "free speech" (and other charges such as "anti-democratic", "censorship" and "lighten up, it's just entertainment") fail to acknowledge and understand is the social concept of power.
Sexism, racism, ableism, heterosexism, classism and anti-semitism are not about individual acts of discrimination (what some conservative commentator might have specifically said to offend someone or some group). These terms do not primarily refer to acts of discrimination (expressions of prejudices like Coulter's). They refer to systems of privilege that "normalize" a particular way of talking about and thinking about particular groups of people in society.
That is why Coulter's speech is not just "free" (i. e. bias-free, objectively sent out into the atmosphere). The effects of her speech when launched into public space are not simply situational. They are another series of burps in the historical and existing framework that has normalized a particular way of thinking about Muslims, gays and lesbians, and other marginalized groups...I prefer to think of it as a fart. Coulter speaking in Canada was like letting a big one rip in Cathedral of Political Correctness--and what a wondrous sound it made! It's exactly what we needed to hear--a loud, rude noise to blast us awake. As for Sensoy's spiel about "free speech" not being "free" unless it's free from bias--only someone really smart (and no doubt tenured) could dare say something so stupid; it should be clear to all that the only "bias" he wants speech to be "free" of is a bias he doesn't share.
What Do You Call Stephen Harper's Decision to Shut Down 3 "Human Rights" Offices?
I call it a good start. A Canadian union whose workers earn good coin courtesy us, the taxpayers, by staffing the "human rights" syndicate calls it, quel shockeroo, an attack on "human rights". Mark Steyn comments:
Update: Oops. Looks like it was too good to be true. As Emily Litella would have said....
In a way, this is the logical reductio of the state ownership of human rights. In the degradation of Trudeaupia, human rights ceased to be (as they were in Magna Carta) restraints upon the King by the citizenry, and became instead restraints upon the citizenry by the Queen (Jennifer Lynch, QC). In her recent speeches, Chief Commissar Lynch has redefined "human rights" further into a synonym for her crappy bureaucracy. Now the "public" "service" union has come clean and admitted that in Canada "human rights" is defined as "jobs for life for statist hacks with benefits you can only dream of".
In other words in Canada, you measure "human rights" by the size of the bureaucracy...Now, if only Harper would cashier Queen Lynch and end her reign of error...
Update: Oops. Looks like it was too good to be true. As Emily Litella would have said....

The Host With the Least
Hussein Barack gives the Jew the cold shoulder. From the timesonline:
For a head of state to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of.
Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip seen in Jerusalem tonight as a disastrous humiliation.
After failing to extract a written promise of concessions on Jewish settlements, Mr Obama walked out of his meeting with Mr Netanyahu but invited him to stay at the White House, consult with advisors and “let me know if there is anything new”, a US congressman who spoke to the Prime Minister said today.
“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages”, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House phone line. Another said that the Prime Minister had received “the treatment reserved for the President of Equatorial Guinea”...Don't be silly. I doubt he'd treat the President of Equitorial Guinea that badly. And, hey, at least he didn't give Netanyahu any lame parting gifts.
CAUT Goes After the A-Houle
The Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) wants U of Ottawa's Provost Houle to apologize to Ann Coulter.
Lot of luck with that one, CAUT.
Lot of luck with that one, CAUT.
Finger Lickin' Sharia
A patron of a U.K. KFC wasn't able to order his favorite menu item because...well, I'm pretty sure you can take a wild guess as to why that might have been. The Daily Mail has the skinny (or I guess in this case the fatty) on the disappointed diner (my bolds):
A diner was left fuming after a KFC restaurant took his favourite meal off the menu because it breached their new halal regulations.
Alan Phillips was told he would have to travel five miles to another branch if he wanted the Big Daddy, a chicken burger, topped with bacon, cheese and salad.
The branch, in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, is one of 86 KFC restaurants which is running trials of a scheme where they sell nothing other than halal meat. The company has taken the burger off the menu because Islamic dietary law forbids Muslims to eat anything which has been prepared on the same premises as pork, which is itself strictly forbidden.
It said it was responding to 'increased demand' for a halal menu in the areas of Britain with growing Muslim populations.
Mr Phillips said he found the change 'extremely unfair' on non-Muslim customers.
'I can't believe a chain like this has taken this stance,' he said. 'Staff told me that due to the dietary laws halal meat could not be prepared in the same place as other meats, so I couldn't have my bacon.
It was like they were saying I couldn't buy bacon because it might offend people.'
Mr Phillips was told he would have to travel to another KFC five miles away to buy his bacon burger. He protested that this was too far for him to travel...I dunno. Five miles isn't really so far to have to go. At least for now he doesn't have to travel to another country...or another continent... to get his bacon fix.
P.C. a North America-Wide Blight
While it's true that Canada is especially blighted (plagued) by control-minded leftist ideologues, the legacy bequeathed us by Canada's hopeychanger, Pierre Trudeau, Anne Coulter herself realizes that political correctness doesn't stop at the 49th parallel. As this American blogger points out:
...But there was a serious side that I doubt the American press will pick up on.
Coulter: “conservative speakers are regularly subjected to violent attacks on college campuses. Bill Kristol, Pat Buchanan, David Horowitz and I have all been the targets of infamous campus attacks. That’s why the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute (a sponsor of my Canada speeches) and the Young America’s Foundation (a sponsor of many of my college speeches) don’t send conservatives to college campuses without a bodyguard.”
She is a brave woman who dares to speak Truth to Pettifoggery.Indeed. But on university campuses across North America, the pettifoggers (bonjour, M. Houle) are in charge.
From Those Wonderful Folks Who Brought You Israeli Apartheid Week
As we know, Anne Coulter's provcative right-wing "hate speech" is strictly verboten over at the U of Houle; wouldn't want to expose impressionable young lambs, the delicate hot house flowers, to anything that over-the-top hateful, eh? As we also know, provocative Islamolefty hate speech about Israel is permitted--welcomed, even--because that's how "free speech" works in the microcosm (the university campus) and the macrocosm (the whole flipping country). Here a list of the organizations that sponsored this year's Ottawa Zionhass blowout. See if you notice anything odd about it:

Funny how so many "victim groups" are so keen to participate in a Hatefest. Sort of puts a lie to the muliticulti orthodoxy that "victims" are incapable of manifesting irrational prejudice and hatred themselves, don't you think?

Who's to Blame for the Coulter Fiasco?
The Ceeb's Neil McDonald blames Ezra Levant, lefty-baiter extraordinaire:
Meanwhile, a letter-writer to steynonline blames Neil's employer, the Ceeb:
...That kind of left-wing baiting is more or less what he was doing when I first met him in 1993. Then, he was a law student at the University of Alberta and he had just pranked everyone by tacking up notices claiming the school was discriminating against Jews.Yes, had there been no Levant to "provoke" Provost Houle into warning Coulter that her unfettered expression could lead to criminal charges, none of this would have happened.
When outraged students showed up at a protest he organized, they were treated to an attack on the university's quota system, which reserved spots at the law school specifically for native students. Levant, a Jew, would not qualify for one of these reserved seats.
Predictably, native students claimed this was hate speech and, just as predictably, the dean of student affairs wrote Levant threatening to expel him.
When I interviewed him for the CBC, he was happily relishing the uproar.
Fast forward 17 years to this week and Levant had provoked another university official, this time University of Ottawa provost Francois Houle, into writing another letter...
Meanwhile, a letter-writer to steynonline blames Neil's employer, the Ceeb:
I was at the Coulter/University of Ottawa fiasco, and I have to tell you, the media lied. There was a civil lineup of about 800 people wanting to get into Ms Coulter's engagement, and there was a group near the door of about 50 or so (obnoxious) protesters.
Campus security— or lack thereof— didn't know how to deal with the situation. Apparently, one of the protesters pulled a fire alarm, but the fire department came and all was clear. Then some of the protesters rushed the door, and a few minutes later the event was cancelled.
CBC, of course, whipped up the protesters and— voila!— the cameras were turned on. CBC also said that there were thousands of protesters (huge lie), and The Citizen stated that there were hundreds of protesters (big lie). Again, in reality, it was about 50 or 60 protesters. Lastly, the line of civil people dispersed calmly, but disappointed… then nine police cars came to the late and pointless rescue.
CBC loves this kind of stuff— especially the ones who like to cut and splice.
