How Do You Solve a Problem Like the Burka?

As I was reading the first line of this CSM article about the widening appeal of the Islamic "veil" ("It liberates. It represses. It is a prayer. It is a prison. It protects. It obliterates.") it brought to mind that song from The Sound of Music wherein the nuns ponder what to do about their recalcitrant novice ("She's a darling/She's a demon/She's a lamb"). Of course, Maria solved her "veil" problem by taking it off, making kids clothes out of curtains, and escaping with her family across the Alps. Somehow I don't see that as a solution for any Muslim chicks, though.
