Multan - Azhar Haidri, 23, is gaining national attention for his novel solution to a dilemma over whether to marry the bride his family loves of marry the bride his family arranged. His solution: marry both. "Both the girls agreed," he said. He initially refused to marry the 28-year-old to whom he had been engaged since childhood because he wanted to marry the 21-year-old woman with whom he had fallen in love. But the decision threatened to split his family apart. So he married the one Sunday, and plans to marry the other Monday. Pakistani law allows polygamy based on the conept that Islam, the main religion in the country, allows up to four wives. - APTee hee. Isn't sharia a hoot? And so "flexible," too.
Update: An ABC station files the story under "BIZARRE NEWS" ("the stories may be strange, but they're true") and adds that "both women have agreed and plan to live like sisters."
