Could the U.S. Have Prevented the Mumbai Massacre?

It's a distinct possibility. The New York Times reports that two of the Mumbai plot mastermind's three wives (he, an American-Pakistani with a WASPy-sounding name--David Headley--had three) informed American authorities some time prior to the attack that their jihadi hubby was defintitely up to no good. (Let's remember though, people, that "Muslims" did not commit the Mumbai slaughter; "extremists" did.)
