Apparently, persecution of homosexuals has become the _sine qua non_ of "truly awful behavior" by tyrannies, in the minds of Leftists. Burning down churches and synagogues (even with the congregations still inside), wholesale confiscation of private property, systematic rape, widespread torture, millions placed in concentration camps, the forced displacement of whole populations, mass executions . . . none of that will quite do it. But just let the word go out that a regime has been even mildly beastly to a homosexual or two, and the fountains of outrage begin to flow.
