A Song For 9/11

A measure of how far I've travelled since 9/11/01: back then, when I heard the song "God Bless America," I would cringe and think, "Ick, how schmalzty, jingoistic and de trop." Now when I hear it I feel a rush of pride (even though I'm not American) and think, well, "God bless America!"
