Time was when Americans had immense admiration for those who started out life with nothing and who, via their own exertions, made something of themselves. Today, of course, the Occupy/entitlement generation expect someone else exert themselves on their behalf, and the media whinge about the gaping chasm, moolah-wise, between young and old.
