Hey, Mark Steyn, I Have the Perfect Song for You to Sing at "Steynamite"!

If I do say so myself (as its composer and lyricist). It's called "Good Intentions," and the chorus, which is ideal for an audience participation sing-a-long at such a gathering, goes like this:

Good intentions
In copious amounts.
If you've got good intentions, friend,
That's all that really counts.
Good intentions,
As long as you mean well
No one'll even notice if
You pave the road to hell.
No one'll even notice if
You pave the road to hell.

And here's the final verse, of which I'm particularly proud, and which is a perfect fit for an evening devoted to free speech:

Free speech they says's the linchpin
Of a free society.
But there are those who loathe
When you speak so-called blasphemy.
The censors say, "Please hold your tongue
And promise to be nice."
But politesse sans freedom
Comes at too damn high a price!
Yes, politesse sans freedom
Comes at too damn high a price!

There's even a verse about Barack Obama:

Obama drama in the news--
He's reaching out again.
He's makin' a connection
With another Muslim "friend."
His M.O.'s problematic:
Kissing up and bowing low.
The Ayatollah hopes it's not as
Low as he can go.

Barack has good intentions
In copious amounts....

How 'bout it, Mark? I'm even willing to write some new verses just for the occasion. (Now, what rhymes with "Cheney"?)

Update: Who knew "Bob Gueldof" was such a big Steyn fan?

Update: "Mark Steyn is a bigoted, bullying, brazen, egotistical, unfunny, crass, self-serving Islamophobe and right-wing homophobe with the wit of a Soviet drains inspector and the sartorial understatement of a deposed Middle Eastern dictator, whose tedious views and repetitious anecdotes leave the listener feeling depleted of insight and starved of intellectual oxygen."

Update: Wherein Steyn comments on oral sex-ed for Ontario Catholic kids. (Begging the question: could Ontario's sex-ed syllabus have been inspired, at least in part, by this song from 60s musical Hair?)
