Obama's "Forward" Re-election Trope Is a Deja-Vu Snoozeroo

I liked this bit of prose by the WaPo's Michael Gerson:

To every interest group, a sop. On every wedge issue, a swat. To every class enemy, a turn in the tumbrel. Obama has gone “forward” all the way to the strategy of Walter Mondale.

From Hopeychangey Saviour of the World to--egad!--milquetoast Mondale in the space of four short years.

Boy, have the mighty even fallen.
