I'm a proponent of free speech, so I have no problem with this event going ahead. That said, people who plan to go should know in advance that Patrick Martin, the Globe and Mail's Middle East correspondent, rarely if ever has something positive to report about Israel, or, for that matter, anything negative to say about Israel's enemies, first and foremost, the Palestinians. As for Canadian Friends of Peace Now, they're a bunch of guilt-ridden leftists who want, well, peace now. Unfortunately, they don't understand that Israel's conception of peace, i.e. the cessation of all hostility and, in time, the normalization of relations between former enemies, is at odds with the Palestinians' understanding of the word. They view peace" in Islamist terms--as the "peace" that will be in place once the Jews have been chased away and/or killed, and the Muslims are back in charge of "occupied" Palestine, which is to say, all of Israel.

But, hey, if this sort of event is your cuppa, you're sure to derive much satisfaction from its manifold sophistries.
