Dear Israelis: Europe Hates You. Time to Deal With It and Move On

Caroline Glick writes that "Europe is abandoning the ideals of the Enlightenment, and embracing authoritarianism and irrationality," which includes its irrational Zionhass. Israelis, though, are finding it hard to come to terms with that reality:
Europe’s main non-economic weapon against Israel today is the fact that the Israeli public and particularly Israel’s elites still care what Europe thinks of us. Israelis need time to understand that European hatred for Israel has nothing whatsoever to do with anything Israel does.
Exactly. 'Twas ever thus: Jew-hate has more to do with the haters--their skewed ways of thinking and (mis)understanding the world--than it does with the objects of their derision.

For more on that, I highly recommend Anti-Judaism: The Western Tradition, David Nirenberg's brilliant and original take on the subject.
