Rhymes With "Barf"

"Human kind," T.S. Eliot once wrote, "cannot bear very much reality."

Man, did old Tom ever have the Obamis' number. Their cognitive dissonance was grown so loud that it has plum drowned out the last vestige of reality. Witness this witless exchange between State Department twinkie Marie Harf and a tingle-less, incredulous Chris Matthews:
Marie Harf has taken the Obama administration to new depths of self-parody, seemingly shocking even Chris Matthews of MSNBC with her naiveté. Via The Right Scoop:
“We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them. So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs…”
Matthews, no thrill running up his leg any more, countered:
MATTHEWS: We’re not going to be able to stop that in our lifetime or fifty lifetimes. There’s always going to be poor people. There’s always going to be poor Muslims, and as long as there are poor Muslims, the trumpet’s blowing and they’ll join. We can’t stop that, can we?
HARF: We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people…
The unwillingness to acknowledge that ISIS and other jihadis are motivated by religion, that they are following Koranic injunctions, is the real root cause here, not ancient and discredited knee jerk liberal theories of poverty as the cause of violence and crime.
Imagine saying of Nazi Germany: We can work with them to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economy so they can have job opportunities for these people.

How deranged would that have sounded in, say, 1940?

Reality bites--and so do Obama and his brigade of amateurish, "just following orders" ass hats.

People who believe in nothing but a hollowed out secular progressive religion are terrified to admit that there are people in the world who believe in a religion that drives them to worship something other than themselves. To admit the very existence of people who are prepared to kill and die for their religion is to render the progressive secularist a nullity.
