Osama bin Laden--Not a Muslim

We are hopeful that the news of the killing of Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden will represent the beginning of a new chapter in our human history that is guided by hope and grounded in our common humanity,” said CAIR-CAN Executive Director Ihsaan Gardee

“We are encouraged by the definitive words of U.S. President Barack Obama that Bin Laden did not represent Muslims or Islam. In addition to killing thousands of innocent people on September 11th, 2001, including Canadians, he and Al-Qaeda have caused the deaths of countless Muslims worldwide.

“Canadian Muslims, like all citizens of conscience, are committed to the safety and security of Canada and will continue to unequivocally condemn terrorism and violent extremism in any form. We will keep on working with community leaders to ensure that this message is heard in every public and private setting.

To recap: Bin Laden-style violent jihad--un-Islamic, unacceptable; non-violent, "pass the tasty samosas"-style stealthy jihad--still on the table.
