Thanks, Dhimmis

Supporters of the Toronto District School Board modus operandi (which includes transforming a public school cafeteria into a Saudi-style house of worship) are holding a--wait for it--TDSB Appreciation Day (h/t MH):
Join us on Saturday, September 17th, 2011, at 2pm, for a Toronto District School Board (TDSB) APPRECIATION DAY at the TDSB Headquarters 5050 Yonge St, Toronto, On. The purpose of this event is to show the TDSB and other school boards that YES students, teachers, staff, alumni and community members appreciate the work TDSB does in providing space for extracurricular student activities. This includes accommodating students outsid...e the classroom for what is meaningful to to them, this includes athletic, academic, cultural, religious, dis/ability, LGBT/Queer and other needs students may have.

Show your school spirit and come out in your uniforms, athletic gear, and school. Bring banners for your teams and organizations, Canadian flags and if you're in the Band bring your instrument out too. We will be having a Henna Artist, Hina, coming in to put henna tattoos on whoever would like one (such as I LOVE TDSB, and other cool designs), and the money raised by the henna tattoos will be donated to the relief effort in East Africa, where many young people don't have access to food let alone an education.

Unfortunately, the TDSB has come under attack for providing space outside of the classroom for students to gather for whatever reason. Students at TDSB have the right to gather outside of the classroom and have the right to extracurricular activities that are important to them. Losing these things will not only infringe on the rights of students but also inhibits the overall development of students.

LETS COME OUT TO SUPPORT TDSB RESPECTING AND ALLOWING EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS!

THANK YOU!

Anyone interested in volunteering/organizing LET US KNOW :)

MEETING FOR FUTURE ORGANIZERS/VOLUNTEERS FOR MONDAY SEPTEMBER 5, 2011 @ 2PM DOWNTOWN(more specifics for later), PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE ATTENDING!

Further details will be updated :)

This is strictly a Thank You event for TDSB! That's all.

Fingers crossed none of that henna money ends up in Al Shabaab's, er, hands.

Do you know who exactly is organizing this, TDSB Appreciation day. Having read thru the comments it looks to be about supporting the public school mosque and fund raising for East Africa Relief. The promo tells student bands to come out bringing their instruments. Would these be TDSB school bands and instruments being used to support the relgious accommodation? Would the TDSB allow dissenting group access to TDSB assets to be used to protest the TDSB's religious accommodation?

Don't know for sure who's behind it. Will have to do some digging to try to find out.

I know who it is as I have been monitoring the opposition's activities.... it's the same group of people who have been launching counter-protests everytime the Coalition sets up a protest (ie. Mariam Hamaoui and co.).

Funny how they don't mention that the attacks aren't on extracurricular activities, but on using school space for religious activities DURING school hours. If this was going on after school hours than there wouldn't have been that huge hue and cry about it. They just moved their goal posts again.
