Come one, come none:
Ali Abunimah from Electronic Intifada in conversation with Rick Salutin
Media, the Internet, Palestine and where from here?
Beit Zatoun (612 Markham St. @ Bathurst subway)

Media through the creation, reporting and dissemination of news plays a major part in our everyday reality. To many observers this is the single most critical factor in the creation or maintenance of war or peace and therefore a key point of resistance. We see this perhaps most starkly in the search for justice and peace in the 100 year struggle for Palestine against Zionism.
It is only recently that this equation has shifted thanks to relative decline of traditional mainstream media and ascendancy of online news sources and resources such as Electronic Intifada. Is this a “game changer” for Palestine – Israel and other situations of abusive power in the world?
About the speakers
Ali Abunimah is co-founder of Electronic Intifada and author of One Country: A Bold-Proposal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Impasse. Founded in 2001, the Electronic Intifada, an independent online news publication and educational resource focusing on Palestine, its people, politics, culture and place in the world, has helped change media perception of Palestine especially in North America. The "100 year struggle," eh? Funny, I though the, er, "struggle" between Islam and Jewry started much longer ago than that.
