(Reuters) - More than 300 people, including teachers, coaches and doctors, have been arrested worldwide on child pornography charges after a Canadian-led investigation.
Toronto police said on Thursday the arrest of 348 people, including 108 in Canada, 76 in the United States and 164 in other countries from Spain to Australia, came after a three-year investigation of a Toronto company that distributed child porn.Somewhat amusingly, the company claimed to produce "wholesome coming of age films that are boy based." I guess those who were busted knew exactly what that meant.
Update: More info here:
Police said today that the investigation began with a Toronto man accused of running a company since 2005 that distributed child pornography videos. Police say 108 people were arrested in Canada and 76 in the US Others were arrested in Europe.
School teachers, doctors and actors were among those arrested.
Police say the Toronto man instructed people around the world to create the videos of children ranging from five to 12 years of age, and then distributed the videos to international customers.
