A leftist Zionist is feeling left out of the metaphorical "Jewish tent," and wants to know if and his kind are allowed inside. No problem, Mr. Prog. By virtue of your being Jewish, you are ipso facto inside the tent. The problem arises because all too often, "progressives" not only want into the tent, they want to run the tent, their naked desire for power being disguised, or so they think, by their selfless calls for "social justice." But you know what? Even though you think the "progressive" approach is the default setting for Jewry, that doesn't mean that those who beg to differ, and who balk at your Utopianism, are inherently selfish and evil. It just means that we know you all too well, and understand via experience, that while you may pay lip service to the concept of "big tent" Judaism and the idea that everyone should have a chance to bring his/her/their ideas to market, once you gain control of the tent, we who disagree will be forced to swallow our words if we want to remain inside.
So, by all means, feel free to come inside, for, as the Torah notes, the tents of Jacob are indeed beautiful. But don't expect anyone to genuflect to you and your worldview just because of who you are and what you believe.
