Judge Sentences Toronto "Burka Killer" to Life in the Slammer
He didn't buy the defense lawyer's claim that, even though the deeply religious man murdered his uppity estranged wife by slashing her throat, it wasn't an "honour" killing. Nor was the judge swayed by the lawyer's argument that the killer, who donned a burka, gloves and slippers and disabled a security camera prior to entering his wife's apartment, was "a simple and unsophisticated man who snapped under great psychological torment."
