Calls to maintain unity and religious coexistence were echoed by Nigeria’s top Muslim leader, Al-Haji Sa’ad Abubakar III, who is the sultan of Sokoto.
“As I have always said, there is no relationship whatsoever between Islam and terrorism, and we are working tirelessly to restore the good image of Islam,” Al-Haji Abubakar III was quoted by Daily Trust while addressing the graduation ceremony of students of the Madarasatul Hifzulraheem Funtua in Katsina State.
“Anybody that chooses the path of terror should be addressed as a terrorist and not a Muslim because Islam does not preach or entertain terrorism.”
The Sultan has also Urged Muslims to foster unity and shun actions that would distort the image of Islam.
Moreover, he has vehemently condemned linking terrorism to Islam, dubbing Boko Haram as “extreme Islamists”.
“Whoever commits a crime should be treated as a criminal irrespective of his faith,” read a statement signed by the Secretary of the Sultanate council, Alhaji Attahiru Hussini, This Daily Live reported on Tuesday, May 13."Irrespective of his faith"? Who else is committing such crimes, sultan?
Boko Haram, a Hausa term meaning “Western education is sinful”, is loosely modeled on Afghanistan's Taliban.Ah, yes, the Taliban. Now, where on earth would they and the Bozo Harems get the nutty idea that chicks can be kidnapped and turned into sexual slaves?
To paraphrase Dire Straits: He is the sultan/He is the sultan of spin.
