Radical Cleric Bilal Philips Takes Full Advantage of the Perks of Being a Canadian Citizen

Bilal Philips, a Canadian citizen and extremist imam, is quite the world traveler. Residing locally (right her in Toronto) but thinking globally, he strives to spread the supremacist message in countries far and wide. Some countries, including the U.S., the U.K. and Australia have been, shall we say, inhospitable, and have barred his entry (the "Islamophobes"!). Germany and Kenya, on the other hand, have allowed him in, only to boot him out afterwards. And most recently, he's been having a spot of bother in the Philippines, where, as Stewart Bell reports today, officials have detained him for "inciting and recruiting people to conduct terrorist activity."

But, hey, he's a full-fledged Canadian citizen, right? So he's entitled to call on the kafirs in Ottawa to ride to his rescue. And, guess what?, they are:
In response to a question about Mr. Philips’ arrest, the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ottawa said it was assisting him. “Consular services are being provided to the Canadian citizen who has been detained in the Philippines, as required,” said spokeswoman Amy Mills.
Mr. Philips did not respond to emails requesting comment. But on Facebook, he wrote: “Even in hard times, the longest day is only 24 hours. Everything passes, nothing stays. Have faith and keep walking, knowing Allah is with you.”
In a testament to his popularity among those drawn to his strident preaching, the post had been “liked” more than 15,000 times as of Wednesday afternoon. “May Allah protect and guide you from the kuffar [non-believers] in the Philippines,” one comment read.
Well, as Red Skelton (or was it Samuel Goldwyn?) might have said had he lived in our time, give the people what they want and they'll keep on "liking" you on Facebook.

If the name Bilal Philips rings a bell, it might be because he's one of the Islamist clerics who has appeared at the Reviving the Islamic Spirit confab, the gathering where, a couple of years ago, future former prime minister Justin Trudeau, a die-hard mosqueteer, delivered the keynote speech. At the time, terrorism and security expert David Harris wrote this about the peripatetic Philips:
Another RIS invitee was Sheik Bilal Philips, a Canadian imam who is an unindicted co-conspirator in [the 1993 World Trade Center] bombing, favors death for homosexuals in Muslim lands, and fancies punitive amputations, lashings and public executions. From Kenya to Germany to Australia, he has been banned and deported on national security grounds.
Now, of course, he languishes in a Philippines lock-up, waiting for the feds (the "kuffar" whom he despises and laughs at) to do their duty and hasten his return "home"--you know, the way, back in the day, we did our duty for Osama bin Laden's compadre, Papa Khadr.

How great is it to be Philips? You get to do all sorts of radical stuff that would likely get you executed in places like Saudi Arabia, but which you are free to pursue in Canada because they are covered by our "kuffar" Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and because they don't officially cross the line into criminality. (And even if they do cross the line, you'll get cut much slack due to endemic political correctness.)

Update: If you're so inclined, you can enroll in Philips' online Islamist university, of which he's chancellor (it says so right on his Facebook page, which features this tagline, caps included: "Islam is not what Muslims do, but what they are SUPPOSED TO DO").

Update: Actually, that Psychology course seems to be less about psychology and more about religion:

B.Sc. in Psychology (BSc.PSY)

Helping others is very much encouraged in Islam and the work of therapist or counsellor is very beneficial to the whole society.
“…and he who relieved a Muslim from hardship Allah would relieve him from the hardships to which he would be put on the Day of Resurrection…” (Sahih Muslim, 32/6250)
In order for the therapist or counsellor to be successful with Muslim clients, it is crucial that he has an authentic knowledge and understanding of Islamic teachings, because this is what he will further pass on to the client in order to modify his way of thinking and help him out of difficult situation. IOU’s BSc in Psychology is a wonderful combination of Islamic teachings and contemporary therapies that will make a student one day a very effective therapist. In sha Allah.
“Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.” (Qur’an, 16:97)
Update: Philips says Muslims "have become extreme"--but only re how they view dogs:
