Have you seen those amazing pictures of an octupus picking up a coconut shell off the ocean floor and carting it off to another site, where it had already deposited another piece of shell? The creature then went on to assemble a shelter from the two halves.
Now that's what I call a ruggedly individualistic invertebrate, one that isn't hanging around waiting for someone else--David Suzuki, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, the government--to take care of it.
