Out of This World

A letter-writer to steynonline points out a freaky caption in the Washington Post:
Mazlan Othman Director of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs, Iran's Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh and Ulrich Huth, Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the UN-Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, from left, stand behind a model of Iran's SAFIR OMID the first Iranian Satellite Launch Vehicle during a presentation at Vienna's International Center, on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010.
Isn't it nice that representatives from the UN's outer space wing were there to cheer on the Ayatollah's space exploits?

I've long thought there was something, er, other-wordly (extra-terrestrial?) about the UN. Here's our proof.
