'Obama to Meet With Latino Celebrities on Immigration'

I think this is my favorite story of the day:

Among those expected at the meeting are actress Eva Longoria of “Desperate Housewives,” Don Francisco, host of the variety show “Sabado Gigante,” actress America Ferrera of “Ugly Betty,” musician/producer Emilio Estefan, and Univision news anchor Maria Elena Salinas.
I'm sure all of them have sage advice to impart to The Smartest President EVER!™ re "immigration."

I don't know about the other "Latinos" in the roster of celebrities who are among those expected at the meeting with President Obama, but Emilio Estefan (Gloria Estefan's husband and manager), is a Cuban-American and should know better.

Cuban-Americans are the only major Hispanic sub-group in the U. S. that has done well for itself in the U. S., largely through entrepreneurship and higher education. As far as the rest of the "Latino community" is concerned, we're just honkies with a Caribbean Spanish accent, or "Latin Jews," or "Spick Anglos," or . . . but you get the picture. If the demographic shift in the U. S. tilts the political balance permanently toward the Democratic Left, Cuban-Americans will definitely be among the despoiled "undeserving rich." Mr. Estefan should know this; his own parents were despoiled by the Castros, who are among the culture heroes of Mr. Obama and his ideological soul mates.

The Estefans might sell more music in the short run as the Hispanic population grows, but they, or their offspring, won't get to keep their earnings in the long term. Shame on him for helping to braid the rope with which he and many others like him will be hung eventually.

Isn't Emilio Estefan the son of Martin sheen and brother of Good ole Charlie?
