The Real Obstacle to Palestinian Statehood

Yossi Klein Halevi writes that as long as Palestinians refuse to accept that Jews can be a nation as well as a religion--what he calls their "rejectionism"--Palestine the state will not come to pass. Which is fine as far as it goes--but it doesn't go nearly far enough. For it's not only that Palestinans reject Jewish nationhood. It's that Islam rejects it, viewing Jewry as a lowly, unwholesome people (and, on three occasions in the Koran, as not even human at all, but transformed by Islam's founder, that paragon of perfection, into beasts) who do the Devil's bidding. It is that rejectionism that must be surmounted before true peace (that is, peace in the infidel and not the Islamic sense) can occur.
