Kooky Meme Du Jour: Obama is Machiavelli/Machiavellian

I keep reading the same confounding thing--for example, here, here, here and here (scroll down to "Obama learned from Machiavelli").

Conflating Obama with Machiavelli is a huge insult--to Machiavelli.

Besides, we all know who the real Machiavellian is.

Update: A meme than makes more sense--Obama's security apparatus is "Orwellian."

I believe that anyone that uses or describes someone like Obama as "Machiavellian" has never read "The Prince". Most people focus on the negative connotations of the book and fail to see that there's a lot of good rules on how to be a ruler. Yes he did say "It's better to be feared then loved", but it's one of those quotes that's taken out of context. It was used for a weak leader when only fear was strong enough to enforce his will on the people.
