Ontario Government Pissing Away Our Money at a Record Rate

Perusing the most recent list of recipients of an Ontario Trillium grant, I came across these gems:
  • Fatal Light Awareness Program$82,000 to hire a volunteer and outreach coordinator who will increase public engagement, create new volunteer opportunities and develop a business and marketing plan, including a service for building owners, architects and developers to help reduce the frequency of birds striking windows.
  • Mural Routes Inc.$228,600 to support a mural-making training program for all ages and artistic abilities to be implemented in inner-suburban Toronto neighbourhoods including Kennedy Park/Eglinton East, Malvern, Warden Woods/Oakridge, and Weston. This initiative includes leadership training, prepares young mural artists for the workforce and provides important skills needed to enhance their on-the-wall painting experience.
  • Toronto Park People, a project of Tides Canada Initiatives Society$58,000 to hire a project coordinator to create a network of park supporters and local park groups. These groups and individuals will share knowledge, experiences and best practices and work productively with city staff and their communities to improve their local parks.
Tides Canada, BTW, is one of those wacky enviro-rackets that's trying to murder the Alberta oil industry. Which begs the question: why are Ontario taxpayers giving it so much as a single penny?
