For Perhaps the First Time in His Presidency, Obama Resorts to a "Common Sense Test"

Apparently, "common sense" affirms that the Assad regime is responsible for the gassings in Syria. And yet, using the same yardstick, "common sense" would tell us to steer clear of getting involved in a war on Syria since, again employing "common sense," there's no telling what horrific chain of events it may set off. "Common sense," in fact, would tell us to give Syria, with its plethora of "rebels," very few of whom share common ground with us, as wide a berth as possible, and that Syria is no place for infidels to tread right now--or ever. "Common sense" would also open our eyes to the reality that, Obama's arguments to the contrary, the POTUS who all along has sneered at and is embarrassed by American exceptionalism, has used NASA to boost Muslims' self-esteem re their "scientific achievements," and has repeatedly led from behind in a supine and Uriah Heep-like manner has already signaled to the world that America is not what it used to be, nor does it want to be--so where's the loss of face when that face is long gone?

"Common sense" would say that a community organizer/one term senator isn't up to the demands of steering the ship of state through treacherous waters, not unless you have a hankering to affix the words "Titanic" and "iceberg" to the presidential voyage.

So much for "common sense."

Perhaps 'disaster' (Cloward-Piven Strategy) was the goal all along?

Perhaps. But I doubt it. I think this is a case of Obama being caught with his pants down, and him fecklessly trying to pull them up again.

Distinguishing malice from incompetence is indeed a "puzzlement."

I used to subscribe to the saying, "Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity." But then I realized there are a lot of people who are both stupid AND malicious (some of whom are certain that they are entirely virtuous).
