We're Not Worthy

It's hard to be both sanctimonious and masochistic, but these simpering wimps are giving it that old school try. From the Toronto Sun:
OTTAWA — A group of disgruntled Canucks is trying to scuttle Canada’s attempts to land a seat on the United Nations’ coveted Security Council.
The Council of Canadians told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in Ottawa Wednesday that Canada is “not deserving” of such a powerful spot among nations because it doesn’t comply with “international norms” and has snubbed the UN in the past.

The advocacy group wants the government to recognize water as a human right, do more to cut down on greenhouse gas emissions and sign the UN’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

“Being one of only four countries that originally voted against the declaration is yet another example of Canada swimming against the current of international norms on human rights,” said the council’s Brent Patterson in a news statement Wednesday, adding that not signing it “is yet another example of Canada acting against the current of international norms on human rights.”

Canada — along with Germany and Portugal — is vying for one of two temporary two-year seats up for grabs this October on the 15-member UN Security Council.

Canada last held a seat on the council in 2000.
I'm actually on board with Canada taking itself out of contention--because the UN, that fetid cesspit of despots 'n' Zionhass, is unworthy of us.

Ah, the same organization headed by Maude Barlow who recently said she was ashamed to wear the maple leaf.

Here's a message for you Maude.

We're ashamed you're a Canadian.
