The Snake Venom Theory: My Explanation for How John Kerry Can Say With a Straight Face That Syria's Opposition Is Largely "Secular" and Not Jihadist

Just now on live TV, John Kerry told a Republican congressman that the folks opposing Assad are "secular," and that, ultimately, the U.S. aims to see a "secular" government installed in Syria. (As if Iran would ever allow that to happen.)
 
The only explanation I can think of for such magical thinking: Kerry has had far too much Botox, and it has caused his brain to seize up.
