In Islam, the penalty for apostasy is death (via stoning or some other immensely cruel and not-so-unusual punishment). That, at least, has the advantage of being quick and dirty, unlike the punishment meted out to apostates of leftism (David Mamet, Benny Morris et al), i.e. a protracted and painful pillorying--the equivalent of an old fashioned tar-and-feathering--by outraged "progressives."
