Elmo v. Steyn: Round Two
The censorious former head of the Canadian Islamic Congress failed to take down Steyn the first time around--even with his adorable sock puppets and the complicity of Canada's despicable "human rights" racket. It should thus come as no surprise that, in his new guise as a Canadian Charger (that's a horsey kind of charger, not a credit card kind) he'd have another go at it. Here's Elmo's steed blaming Steyn for the Norway atrocity:
The citations of the Oslo terrorist Anders Behring Breivik's 1500-page Manifesto include the writings of well-known anti-Muslim personalities like Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, Daniel Pipes, Walid Shoebat and Canada's Mark Steyn. Steyn is the author of "The future belongs to Islam" (Maclean's Magazine - October 23, 2006).
In his article Steyn feeds anti-Muslim world view by asserting:
- Muslims living in the West share the basic goals and objectives of terrorists: they wish to impose an oppressive branch of Shariah Law on Western societies.
- Muslims are multiplying too quickly in Europe and North America. In particular, the number of Muslims is “expanding like mosquitoes”.
- Muslims, due to their inability to be loyal citizens of Western societies, are likely to join the global “jihad” being waged by Muslims against the West.
- The growing Muslim population in the West poses an increasing threat to National Security.
- Due to multiculturalism, Muslims have far too much freedom of movement in Western societies.
- Muslims are attempting to colonize the West in a manner similar to that in which the “white man” colonized “Indian territory”.
- Muslims are willing to wage a “bloody” civil war in Europe.
- Non-Muslim, Belgian kids have no future in their country due to the presence of Muslims.
Following the publication of “The future belongs to Islam,” Dr. Mohamed Elmasry, founding president of The Canadian Islamic Congressfiled a complaint with Canada’s Human Rights Tribunal saying:
“In general, we regard this article to be flagrantly anti-Muslim. Adopting a fear mongering tone, the article focuses on the influx of Muslim immigrants into Europe and North America. Its thesis is that this influx poses a threat to the fabric of Western society, to democracy, and to human rights due to the religious identity and beliefsof Muslims in general. Another significant theme contained in the article is that there is allegedly an ongoing war between Muslims and Non-Muslims, that Muslims are part of a global conspiracy to take over Western societies, and that Muslims living in the West need to be viewed through this lens as the enemy. Finally, other all-encompassing and negative generalizations are made about the Muslim population in the West.”...
The steed ends its screed by implicitly calling for--what else?--Steyn's stifling:
Steyn’s full article can still be used by all the Breiviks out there and can be accessed on the Maclean’s website at: http://www.macleans.ca/article.jsp?content=20061023_134898_134898&source=srch
BTW, only of the "facts" enumerated above--#4--is in any way factual. To tackle the rest one at a time:
- Steyn never says all Muslims living in the West want to impose sharia law.
- The chap who made the mosqitoes comment was none other than Norway's own Mullah Krekar, a fire-breathing extremist whom the Norwegians would like to expel, but can't.
- Again, nowhere does Steyn state such a thing.
- Horsey stuck a ringer in the list--a verifiable fact. Here's how Steyn puts in the Maclean's piece: "Of course, not all Muslims support terrorists -- though enough of them share their basic objectives(the wish to live under Islamic law in Europe and North America)to function wittingly or otherwise as the "good cop" end of an Islamic good cop/bad cop routine. But, at the very minimum, this fast-moving demographic transformation provides a huge comfort zone for the jihad to move around in."
- Bollocks! What he has said is that the multiculti, a social doctrine grounded in white, lefty guilt and moral relativism, has provided an "in" for those who want to see sharia law become a going concern in the West.
- Never said it.
- Ditto.
- Ditto.
In general, I regard the steed's list to be flagrantly duplicitous.
