Me and You and Timbuktu--But Where are the Jihadis?

Globe and Mail columnist Lysiane Gagnon accuses the Harper government of fomenting jihad in Mali. How so? Well, Canada was part of that NATO operation that ousted Libyan lunatic Gadaffi, and by not minding our own beeswax and messing around in his bailiwick, "the chickens are coming home to roost."

Come again?

What I think she's trying to say, her brain full of feathers, is that Gadaffi's ouster has led to unintended consequences.

I think.

But let's let her speak for herself. She continues:
As anyone remotely familiar with North Africa should have known, the improvised war against Moammar Gadhafi’s regime is having dire consequences in a region that was already extremely unstable.
Last week, an Islamist rebel faction known as Ansar Dine swept across northern Mali, seized control of Timbuktu, proclaimed sharia law and forced women to cover their faces. This faction is linked to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, the group that kidnapped Canadian diplomats Robert Fowler and Louis Guay in 2008 and that has taken dozens of Westerners as hostages.
The Ansar Dine takeover was facilitated by its alliance with Tuareg nomads who had worked as mercenaries for Col. Gadhafi and who had returned home – with their arms – after he was overthrown. The bitter irony is that, in recent years, Canada spent more than $100-million annually to help Mali resist the push of jihadist forces...
Seems to have worked like a charm.

So you mean to say, Lysiane, that, despite ponying up untold gazillions in aid for that squalid backwater, the jihad there is our fault?

Just for once couldn't we blame the holy war on, you know, the holy warriors instead of on the kafirs?

Update: This one practically wrote itself:

Hello Mali,
Well, hello Mali.
It's so nice to see you fighting the jihad.
We spent a ton, Mali,
But they've won, Mali.
Now sharia has appeared
And tyrannized--egad!
The Globe and Mail, Mali,
It'll rail, Mali,
That the Harperites are ones
To take the rap.
Crap!
Golly gee, Mali,
Can't we blame the jihadi, Mali?
Jihad's never gonna go away.
Jihad's gonna always, always stay.
Jihad's gonna 'ven-tu-al-ly
Sweep the map!
