Admittedly, George W. Bush wasn't exactly accurate when he called it a "war on terror." But Barack Obama's penchant for imprecise euphemism isn't any better--and, in fact, is even more pronounced. The man whose administration gave us "man-caused disaster" (the politically correct circumlocution for "terrorism") has now "clarified" (as if) that the U.S. is at war with "a network of violence and hatred," i.e. al Qaeda and its affiliates.
How one longs for a plain-speaking Harry S Truman--who would have called a jihad a jihad--at such times.
